Day 1
Travelling deep into the heart of Kakadu National Park we explore the oldest culture in the world viewing ancient ochre rock paintings at Nourlangie Rock. We cruise the famous Yellow Water billabong with the opportunity to see saltwater crocodiles in their natural habitat and visit the Warradjan Aboriginal cultural center to learn more about the local people. We then make our way to our outback accommodation at The Bark Hut for a magnificent sunset over the Mary River woodland a refreshing drink by the pool bar, and a hearty outback cooked dinner.
Day 2
Today we visit the Aboriginal lands of Arnhem Land, an area where access is restricted to a select group of tour operators. A traditional Aboriginal guide will show you some of the best rock art in Australia. The view from the top of the hill is simply breathtaking, looking out across the floodplains and around the escarpment. When we say farewell to our Aboriginal guide back at the Injalak Art & Craft Centre, there is an opportunity to browse or purchase goods from this not-for-profit Aboriginal organisation. Often there are local aboriginals painting and the women weaving pandanus baskets. This is a place where you can truly escape and experience this unique untouched haven of the Northern Territory. Early evening we return to the Bark Hut after a privileged day.
Day 3
After a full buffet breakfast we enter the four wheel drive adventure of a lifetime as we tackle the old Jim Jim road to one of the most amazing places in Australia. We walk across the rugged river bed to Jim Jim falls to one of the most scenic picnic lunches your likely to encounter. Later we take a cruise up the creek to the enchanting Twin Falls. After a day of exploring, adventure and a bit more 4 wheel driving we return you to Darwin that evening.
