| Day 1
Travel south from Alice Springs, passing through the West MacDonnell Ranges. Pause at Mt Ebenezer for a breakfast stop. Stop at the Atila (Mt Conner) lookout and enjoy great photo opportunities. Travel on to Uluru - Kata Tjuta National Park. Join a base tour of Uluru, including a guided walk to Mutitjulu Waterhole where you can view Aboriginal rock paintings. Visit the Uluru - Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre and learn more about Tjukurpa (law) of the Anangu people. Visit Kata Tjuta, where you can take a walk between the massive domes at Walpa Gorge. Travel back to the Uluru sunset viewing area. Witness the sunset and the changing colours of Uluru whilst sipping sparkling wine or juice & finger food. After sunset,be dropped at your hotel.
Day 2
Rise early & drive through sandhill country towards Kings Canyon , stopping for breakfast at Kings Creek Station (own expense) along the way. Continue on to Watarrka National Park where you can make the rocky climb with your Guide to the rim of Kings Canyon to be rewarded with marvellous views. The climb may take up to 3 hours and is for those with a good level of fitness. Alternatively, you may wish to explore the boulder-strewn canyon floor, an easier walk. After lunch (own expense) we make our way back to Ayers Rock. Cook yourself Aussie BBQ included tonight at the Outback Pioneer Bar & Grill.
Day 3
Travel to the sunrise viewing area at the eastern end of Uluru and watch the first sunlight of the day creep across the desert plains. Enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and biscuits as the morning sun slowly changes the colour of Uluru. In summer, watching sunrise at Uluru in the cool morning air is the perfect start to the day. In winter months, we recommend a jacket as the desert air can be cold. A option is available to climb Ayers Rock*. Mid morning transfer to Alice Springs in time to meet 17.00 or later flights. ETA at Alice Springs Airport is 16.00 |
