Kakadu is magnificent in the wet the whole environment responds to the season monsoonal rains and explodes into life. At the height of the seasonal rainfall the Guluyambi Cruise operation moves from its dry season home on the East Alligator River to the Magela Creek. The East Alligator becomes a raging torrent in the wet and is too dangerous to navigate. At this same time the flooded Magela Creek cuts road access to the north of the Park, spreading out to connect a series of billabongs via magnificent paperback forests. The Guluyambi cruise on the flooded Magela Creek is an exceptional adventure on a scenically spectacular section of a Kakadu world heritage wetland. You’ll manouver though vast pristine paper bark forests, along channels with crystal clear vision into the shallow seasonal waters alive with activity, you’ll glide past lily pads, tall wet season grasses, pandanus and fresh water mangrove lined billabongs. Wildlife is abundant in this rich and otherwise restricted environment. Expert guides, the majority Aboriginal, provide guests with an insight into local Aboriginal mythology, the wetlands abundant food chain, traditional uses for many plants and animals as well as bush survival skills required for this wilderness environment. Shoes may get wet so leave the Italian leather ones at home. Wear runners, sports shoes or sandals. Please dont wear thongs! You may encounter rain on transit bring a poncho, coat and or umbrella plus weather proof bag for your camera and film. Lunch is not provide, so please bring own snack. Iced water is provided.

The Guluyambi shuttle bus will collect from all Jabiru based accommodation (Croc Hotel, Lakeview Park, Aurora Lodge) and the Jabiru town centre bus stop from 10am to 10.15am
