About the role

This role is to ensure the strategic priorities of industry capacity and sustainable funding are delivered. 

We are searching for a ‘Manager - Partnerships & Industry Development’ to maintain, support and develop the Association’s partnership opportunities. 

The role includes strong sales, research and development functions through the production of proposals and pitch documents. Reporting to the General Manager, you will play a key role in planning and supporting the activities of the Partnership & Industry Services team. 

The Manager of Partnerships and Industry Relations will develop then maintain regular contact with stakeholders of the Association while continuing to develop a pipeline of more partner opportunities. 

You are passionate about tourism and travel and are willing to go the extra mile. You have a significant commercial tourism background with a successful track record of business improvement by driving highly engaging partnership opportunities. The ability to maintain a regular travel program around the Top End region is an essential requirement of this role.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

      • Lead the Partnerships & Industry Development team creating a high-performance culture;
      • Understand well the strategic plans of Tourism NT, NT Business Events and NT Major Events and other government agencies, especially the Associations roles;
      • Drive strategies to further grow commercial and government partnerships, identifying opportunities within both existing and new commercial partnerships;
      • Regularly liaise with corporate and government partners to ensure contractual entitlements are delivered and leverage plans are maximised for mutually agreed KPIs and objectives;
      • Ensure all aspects of the partnership service level agreement (SLA) including that acquittals are properly completed including financial analysis;
      • Prepare proposals and pitches for potential partnership, including the necessary research to identify the partnership point which Association can deliver;
      • Support the Membership Manager’s plan to achieve annual targets in delivering development programs, membership renewal and achieving recruitment targets;
      • Support the Business Events Manager’s plan to achieve annual targets in delivering development, member connection with local event opportunities and achieving revenue targets;
      • Improve development programs connected to Quality Tourism Framework (QTF), Tourism Enhancement and Business Enterprise to be relevant, delivered and properly acquitted;
      • Develop and manage the Association’s business event, major event and festival regional strategy; 
      • Design, tailor and implement partnership proposals with commercial knowledge and creative flair;
      • Collaborate closely with the General Manager and the Board to ensure consistent and high-quality delivery of Partnerships & Industry Development initiatives aligned with the strategic focuses of the Association, ensuring key milestones and deliverables are met;
      • Collaborate closely with the marketing team to develop partnership offerings and marketing industry relations activities to increase awareness, take-up, and revenue generation; 
      • Manage the Partnerships & Industry Development budget;
      • Manage regional initiatives and projects, support capacity building, identify opportunities, partnerships, agreements, implementation and monitoring;
      • Ensure the QTF Program is being properly delivered to the National standards and connects with local industry capacity programs;
      • Develop opportunities for QTF Accredited or Star Rated members with other organisations;
      • Seek, analyse and respond to member and partner feedback in order to ensure satisfaction; 
      • Undertake all reporting activities including reporting on the strategic plan, risk management, forecasting and budgeting; 
      • Additional duties as required;


Specific Skill Requirements

  • Experience leading and managing talent and innovation initiatives within tourism or travel;
  • Ability to build and maintain strategic relationships at a senior executive level;
  • Extensive experience in sales, business development and relationship management within tourism with an understanding of the priorities of the private and public sector;
  • A proven track record of achieving success through strategic planning, to deliver objectives and achieve set targets;
  • Superior stakeholder management skills, including the ability to gain influence and present across all organisational levels;
  • Develop a broad active network of contacts within the community, cultural and business sectors;
  • Have a strong understanding of tourism distribution for both leisure and business travel markets;
  • Manage all partners to ensure benefit fulfilment and renewal outcomes, by ensuring strict adherence to agreed SLA's & provide appropriate intervention when required;

  • Demonstrated time management, prioritisation and attention to detail skills;
  • You will be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, and possess a strong business acumen;
  • A strong focus on planning and execution, and be highly organised;
  • Experience in a similar role within a tourism business or association (4+ years);
  • Commercial acumen and ability to understand the Association’s not-for-profit model and its role with current and potential stakeholders;
  • Monitor market trends, competitors and current/potential partners;
  • Ability to work flexible hours as required;
  • The ability to travel Intra-Territory is essential; 
  • Must have a current NT Drivers Licence and be able to drive independently;
