Tourism Top End is the peak Tourism Association in the Top End of Australia's Northern Territory and has been representing the interests of the Tourism Industry since 1973. As a not-for-profit, membership-based Association, Tourism Top End is responsible for regional destination development, marketing and advocacy. We promote the Top End for both leisure and business events supporting our 500 plus members. 

The Association operates the Top End Travel and Information Centre in Darwin, being one of the leading tourism and travel booking facilities in Australia. Tourism Top End serves the area known as the 'Top End' in the Northern Territory which includes the Cities of Darwin and Palmerston, World Heritage Listed Kakadu National Park, Katherine region including Nitmiluk National Park, Douglas Daly Region, Arnhem Land, Litchfield National Park and the Tiwi Islands. 

The Association also manages a variety of tourism industry programs in partnership with Northern Territory Government, City of Darwin and the Australian Tourism Industry Council.

About the role

As the Marketing Coordinator, you will be self-motivated and agile, undertaking the consumer and membership marketing duties along with assisting with the administrative needs of the marketing team. The duties of this position will be within the following parameters:

    • Coordinate marketing, communications and member events;
    • Assistant to the Manager - Marketing & Events and Digital Marketing Manager;

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

              • Support the Marketing & Events team to plan, execute and optimise all marketing and communications strategies;
              • Collaborate with colleagues to create, execute and evaluate marketing and communications activities across all programs including member events;
              • Responsible for reconciling expenses (planned and spent) against the within budget;
              • Provide reports to the Manager – Marketing & Events and Digital Marketing Manager on an as-required basis;
              • Coordinate and optimise consumer marketing campaigns and activity across all channels including print, tv, radio, digital, social, email and more, aligned with the intra-territory consumer, business event and Association marketing plans;
              • Coordinate co-operative marketing campaign reports and expenditure;
              • Coordinate social media content related to current campaigns;
              • Coordinate and optimise membership growth and retention campaigns;
              • Manage content on the consumer and membership websites;
              • Prepare and send the industry and consumer newsletters;
              • Sell and manage member marketing opportunities available;
              • Coordinate the distribution and stock management of marketing collateral;
              • Monitor and maintain work in progress to ensure timely follow up and completion;
              • Coordinate member events, including audiovisual equipment for live streaming;
              • Other duties required by the Marketing Managers;

Specific Skill Requirements

    • Enthusiasm, motivation and commitment to encourage and represent the Top End region in marketing activities and promotions
    • Sound knowledge of the Northern Territory Tourism Industry
    • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
    • Understand traditional, digital and social media marketing
    • Demonstrated ability to undertake a wide range of projects simultaneously and deliver outcomes within a designated time frame and within a changing environment
    • Able to work in both an unsupervised and busy office environment
    • Computer literacy, with an understanding of desktop publishing, spreadsheets, word processing, database management and web-based technology

    • Communicate effectively and regularly within the senior management team and the Board, including successes and escalations as required;
    • Demonstrated time management, prioritisation and attention to detail skills;
    • You will be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, and possess a strong business acumen;
    • A strong focus on planning and execution, and be highly organised;
    • Experience in a similar role within a tourism business or association (3+ years);
    • Commercial acumen and ability to understand the Association’s not-for-profit model and its role with current and potential stakeholders;
    • Monitor market trends, competitors and current/potential partners;
    • Ability to work flexible hours as required;
    • The ability to travel Intra-Territory is essential; 
    • Must have a current NT Drivers Licence and able to drive independently;
