Tourism Top End is the peak Tourism Association in the Top End of Australia's Northern Territory and has been representing the interests of the Tourism Industry since 1973. As a not-for-profit, membership-based Association, Tourism Top End is responsible for regional destination development, marketing and advocacy. We promote the Top End for both leisure and business events supporting our 500 plus members. 

The Association operates the Top End Travel and Information Centre in Darwin, being one of the leading tourist booking facilities in Australia. Tourism Top End serves the area known as the 'Top End' in the Northern Territory which includes the Cities of Darwin and Palmerston, World Heritage Listed Kakadu National Park, Katherine region including Nitmiluk National Park, Douglas Daly Region, Arnhem Land, Litchfield National Park and the Tiwi Islands. The Association also manages a variety of tourism industry programs in partnership with Northern Territory Government, City of Darwin and the Australian Tourism Industry Council.

About the role

This role is to support the Partnerships & Industry development team at Tourism Top End (TTE) being a Manager - Partnerships & Industry Development, Membership Manager and Business Events Manager. The key function is to support the industry development activities including accreditation, star ratings and business enterprise. The role is also supporting the onboarding of new members and corporate partners. 

You are passionate about tourism and travel and are willing to go the extra mile. Ideally suited to a professional seeking a career in tourism and developing experience in business improvement, then this role will enable engaging content opportunities. The ability to maintain a regular travel program around the Top End region is an essential requirement to of this role.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

          • Support the Partnerships & Industry Development team creating a high-performance culture;
          • Manage the online processes for Quality Tourism Framework’s accreditation and star ratings.
          • Assist with all aspects of the partnership service level agreement (SLA) including that acquittals are properly completed including financial analysis;
          • Assist proposals and pitches for potential partnership, including the necessary research to identify the partnership point which Association can deliver;
          • Maintain program knowledge of the development programs connected to Quality Tourism Framework (QTF), Tourism Enhancement Program and Business Enterprise Program;
          • Support the Membership Manager’s plan to achieve annual targets in delivering development programs, membership renewal and achieving recruitment targets;
          • Support the Business Events Manager’s plan to achieve annual targets in delivering development, member connection with local event opportunities and achieving revenue targets;
          • Support the Manager – Partnership & Industry Development activities the strategic plans of Tourism NT, NT Business Events and NT Major Events and other government agencies, especially the Associations roles; 
          • Design, tailor and implement partnership proposals with commercial knowledge and creative flair;
          • Collaborate closely with the marketing team to develop partnership offerings and marketing industry relations activities to increase awareness, take-up, and revenue generation; 
          • Seek, analyse and respond to member and partner feedback in order to ensure satisfaction; 
          • Additional duties as required;

Specific Skill Requirements

      • Experience within not-for-profit organisation, tourism or travel; 
      • Experience in sales, business development and relationship management within tourism with an understanding of the priorities of the private and public sector;
      • Stakeholder coordination skills, including the ability to influence and present within a team environment;
      • Have a strong understanding of tourism distribution for both leisure and business travel markets;
      • Support team in delivering and ensuring strict adherence to agreed SLA's;

  • Demonstrated time management, prioritisation and attention to detail skills;
  • You will be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, and possess a strong business acumen; 
  • A strong focus on planning and execution, and be highly organised;
  • Experience in a similar role within a tourism business or association (4+ years);
  • Commercial acumen and ability to understand the Association’s not-for-profit model and its role with current and potential stakeholders;
  • Monitor market trends, competitors and current/potential partners;
  • Ability to work flexible hours as required;
  • Ability to travel Intra-Territory is essential; 
  • Must have a current NT Drivers Licence and be able to drive independently;
