Non-Ticketed Event: $0.00
Gary Lee, Roque Lee, Danella Lee, Jason Lee, Tina Baum, Nadine Lee and Mim Cole, seven Larrakia artists from the same family, bring their exhibition dami-tji-la (blood) to the Centre.
Dami-tji-la is the Larrakia word for 'blood', signifying the family/blood connection between these artists: six siblings and a daughter/niece. This exhibition offers a unique opportunity to appreciate the distinctive artistic heritage that these artists share, as well as their individual differences through a collection of sculpture, installation, painting and works on paper. Though their influences are diverse, the work of these artists is grounded in a deep sense of Larrakia country and culture.
dami-tji-la aims to challenge preconceived notions of Larrakia art and to celebrate the distinctive artistic heritage of a Larrakia family.
damit-tji-la is supported by the Northern Territory Regional Arts Fund.
