On the track

The climax to a month of tremendous thoroughbred racing action with the running of the $200,000 Great Northern Darwin Cup, the richest race on dirt in Australia. Another chapter in the 60-plus years history of the Territory’s flagship event will unfold as in just over 2 minutes, a new Cup champion will be crowned. Will it be another interstate visitor that takes out the big one, or will it be a local, like last year, that snares the NT’s “Holy Grail?”

Off the track

The culmination of the Carnival erupts in a vivid day of racing, fashion, and entertainment. The weekend of the Cup will see the year’s biggest influx of tourism into Darwin when thousands converge on Fannie Bay.

Finalists from each of the Silk Laser Clinics Fashions on the Fields heats compete for the opportunity to represent the Northern Territory at the Myers Fashions on the Field on Lexus Melbourne Cup Day.

Trackside, the atmosphere will be palpable, from the lawns of the General Admission to the stunning heights of the Atrium. Centrefield is awash with marquees and revellers in the refined colonial elegance of Legends of the Straight marquee.
