Roper Bar Park & Store is a remote Motel, Caravan Park, General Store and Service Station located adjacent to Limmen National Park and close to the Roper Bar crossing and boat ramp.
We provide en-suite and non-en-suite air-conditioned rooms that are clean and comfortable, along with spacious campgrounds featuring bathrooms and showers. All rooms include TVs, mini-bar fridges, bedding, towels and air-conditioning.
Guests have access to laundry facilities, an outdoor entertainment area with seating and BBQs, and an on-site Bistro overlooking an escarpment surrounded by pristine bushland — offering hearty meals and a relaxed outback atmosphere. The Park is approximately six hours from Darwin, three hours from Katherine, and two hours from Mataranka (180 km), making it the perfect base for exploring the region or travelling between remote communities.

Directions from Darwin (Approx. 6 hours / 600 km)
Take the Stuart Highway (National Highway 1) south from Darwin towards Katherine. Continue through Adelaide River and Pine Creek until you reach Mataranka.
From Mataranka, turn left onto the Roper Highway (State Route 20) and follow it east for around 180 km. The road transitions from sealed to well-graded gravel. Continue straight on the main highway — Roper Bar Park & Store is located just before the Roper River crossing, and before the turn-offs to Urapunga and Ngukurr.
Directions from Katherine (Approx. 3 hours / 280 km)
Head south from Katherine on the Stuart Highway (National Highway 1) for about 100 km, then turn left onto the Roper Highway (State Route 20) at Mataranka.
Follow the Roper Highway east for approximately 180 km. You’ll reach Roper Bar Park & Store just before crossing the Roper River — well before the Urapunga and Ngukurr community turn-offs.
Directions from Mataranka (Approx. 2 hours / 180 km)
From Mataranka, take the Roper Highway (State Route 20) heading east towards Roper Bar. The road changes from sealed to dirt partway along the route.
Continue straight until you reach Roper Bar Park & Store, located on the right-hand side before the Roper River crossing — ahead of the Urapunga and Ngukurr community turn-offs.
