When you book through Tourism Top End you will receive unlimited kilometres. Bookings direct with Thrifty or through the Thrifty website will receive 100km per day.
We have a large range of passenger vehicles & 4wds.
2WD, AWD and small SUV vehicles are not permitted to be driven on unsealed roads; you must keep the vehicle on bitumen/paved roads only. All Thrifty vehicles are NOT allowed to be driven on any beaches.
We allow our large 4wds to travel along the Mereenie Loop Road, Gibb River Rd & Spring Creek Track (Damage Recovery Fees cannot be reduced for travel on these roads).
Access is DENIED to areas listed: -Jim Jim and Twin Falls, Access to Arnhem Land including Gurig/Cobourg National Park, Central Arnhem Road to Gove beyond Bulman.
Kimberley Region: Mitchell Plateau and Kalumburu, Kalumburu Road North of Drysdale River Station, Canning Stock Route, Tanami Track (including Wolfe Creek Crater, Broome: Cable Beach, any roads south of Eighty Mile Beach
Central Australia: Tanami Track west of Rabbit Flat, Gunbarrell Highway, Plenty/Donahue Highway, Canning Stock Route and the Strzlecki Track, With Thrifty’s written consent and knowledge, you can travel on the Oodnadatta Track and Birdsville Track only when travelling with another vehicle -Other Areas: Outside of the Northern Territory or Western Australian borders without Thrifty’s prior consent -Any Aboriginal lands which require a permit unless Thrifty have given prior written approval upon submission of a valid entry permit, entry to Aboriginal Land without a permit is illegal.
It is important to advise TTE on booking and Thrifty when renting your vehicle, where you are planning to travel. There are areas where Thrifty vehicles are prohibited from going as well as areas where your TTE representative will be able to advise you on must know information for travelling into these specific areas.

Cancellation Fees:
Cancellation of four-wheel drive, bus, and commercial vehicle reservations less than 14 days prior to rental will incur a $330.00 fee or the rental cost, whichever is lower.
For conventional vehicle reservations in Darwin:
Cancellations made more than 7 days prior to pick-up: no charge
Cancellations made within 7 days of pick-up: $220 cancellation fee or rental cost, whichever is lower
For all other Thrifty NT locations, 14 days notice is required for cancellations.
Refunds:
No refunds are due from Thrifty for any unused portions of pre-booked rental once travel has commenced, e.g., if the vehicle is returned earlier than booked and confirmed.
No-show Reservations:
No-show fees will be charged on all vehicles in all cities. The applicable fees will be advised in writing if a no-show occurs.
