About the business
Tourism Top End is the peak Tourism Association in the Top End of Australia's Northern Territory and has been representing the interests of the Tourism Industry since 1973. Tourism Top End is a non-profit Incorporated Association committed to the growth of tourism in the Northern Territory.
Tourism Top End is currently seeking a vibrant and enthusiastic person to join our team in the Darwin City Travel & Information Centre.
The successful applicant must have:
- Demonstrated exceptional customer service skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Sound computer knowledge
- General knowledge of the Top End region is essential
About the role
- Work as a team member to provide an efficient and effective tourist information service.
- Provide a courteous and informative service for customers on all aspects of tourism in Darwin and the Top End Region.
- Assess opportunities to sell members products and convert to sales.
- Promote members' products and services to customers in a fair and equitable manner.
- Provide an efficient ticketing and sales service to customers.
- Suggest and arrange itineraries for tourists requiring further information.
- Provide accurate and current information on National Parks and Reserves in the Top End.
- Reconcile daily sales and ensure cash tin balance is correct.
- Update files with new product rates, brochures and other resources and ensure database information is passed to the Assistant Manager Customer Services as appropriate.
- Tidy and replenish brochure racks and assist with orders as required
- Ensure the office area is clean, neat and tidy at all times.
- Provide an efficient, effective and courteous phone answering service to customers.
- Sell products including maps, books and other retail products as provided.
- Provide information on current factors that may affect tourists, cyclone warnings, road conditions etc.
- Assist with monthly stock take.
- Assist fellow staff members with regards product knowledge and Tourism Top End procedures.
- Represent Tourism Top End at Tourism Industry networking events, famils, monthly General Meetings and Annual General Meeting when required.
- Carry out all duties as outlaid in the Visitor Information Procedures File
- Carry out other reasonable requests as given by the Assistant Manager Customer Services, Travel & Information Centre Manager and or the General Manager.

Critical Skills and Experience
The successful applicant must have:
- demonstrated exceptional customer service skills
- strong understanding of Top End regions
- experience in the tourism industry desirable
- excellent communication skills
- sound computer knowledge

- Demonstrated time management, prioritisation and attention to detail skills;
- You will be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- A strong focus on planning and execution and be highly organised;
- Ability to work flexible hours up to full-time as required;
- The ability to travel Intra-Territory is essential;
- Must have a current NT Drivers Licence and able to drive independently
